Innovapost Client Project Recognized as Laureate by the Computerworld Honors Program

2008/04/17 - Ottawa, Ontario

Canada Post’s and Innovapost’s work on the Canada Post Delivery and Acceptance Application (DAA) has received the prestigious Laureate distinction by IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program in the Government category.

Each year, members of the Chairmen’s Committee, a group of 100 Chairman/CEOs of global technology companies, nominate individuals and organizations around the world whose visionary applications of information technology promote positive social and economic progress.

The technology achievements honored by this program are preserved and protected in national archives, and in over 350 universities, museums and research institutions throughout the world.

“We are very proud to receive this prestigious award from Computerworld and join such a distinguished list of peers.” said Brendan Timmins, Innovapost CEO. “This recognition reflects our strong commitment to listen to our clients and then deliver innovative solutions that address the challenges their people face.”

The Delivery and Acceptance Application (DAA) uses mobile handheld computers to collect and track packages from the time a customer puts them in the mail, through the Canada Post sortation plants, right through to delivery. It is a fully disconnected mobile application that uses cradle communications to load route specific schedules for inductions, and uploads activities for reconciliation, validation and reporting. Combined with its underlying architecture, DAA allows near real time information exchange between a driver’s mobile device and Canada Post, improving internal operations and customer visibility.

Sybase, the largest enterprise software and services company exclusively focused on managing and mobilizing information, nominated this Canada Post project for the Laureate Award. “We extend our sincere congratulations to Canada Post and Innovapost for attaining Computerworld Laureate status,” said Terry Stepien, president, Sybase iAnywhere. “We are very proud of our partnership with these two organizations as they continue to demonstrate significant innovation using our mobile database and device management products to streamline Canada Post operations. This well-deserved award is a tribute to Innovapost’s ability to combine leading technology with their industry expertise to deliver success.”

For two decades, Computerworld Honors has acknowledged those individuals and organizations that have used information technology to benefit society. This year’s Honorees will be commemorated during the 20th Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards Evening on June 2, 2008 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
