May 4, 2011 - Ottawa, Ontario
Event Gets Underway at 9:00 a.m., May 7, 2011 at Ottawa’s City Hall
Ottawa City Hall is the place to be on Saturday, May 7. Make-A-Wish® of Eastern Ontario and Innovapost, an Ottawa-based provider of IT solutions and services, are inviting families, walkers and runners to come down and take part in the fourth annual ‘Innovapost Share the Power of a Wish’ Walk/Run.
The event offers a day of fun for families, beginners and competitive runners alike. Proceeds will go to granting wishes to create hope and happiness for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Participants can choose to walk or run a 1km, 5km or 10km route along the picturesque Rideau Canal. There will be plenty of fun all day including children activities, face painting and bouncy castles, live music and a free picnic lunch for event participants.
“In 2010 we were able to fulfill 10 wonderful dreams for our Wish children because of the proceeds and efforts from the ‘Innovapost Share the Power of a Wish’ Walk/Run. With the help of Innovapost and over 750 participants, we collectively hit our goal on that magical day,” said Mike Wlotzki, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish® Eastern Ontario. “We are striving once again in 2011 to continue making a difference and have other children’s dreams become a reality.”
For several years, Innovapost has adopted ‘Children and Families in Need’ as the company cause, and Make-A-Wish® of Eastern Ontario as one of the charities strongly supported.
“Together with our event sponsors, Innovapost is delighted to support this important event again this year,” said Dave Allum, Senior Vice President at Innovapost. “Our goal for 2011 is to raise enough funds to grant the wishes of ten more local children facing life threatening medical conditions.”
The Innovapost Share the Power of a Wish Walk/Run is one of the largest fundraising events for Make-A-Wish® Eastern Ontario. Since 2002, Innovapost has raised over $2 million for various charities throughout Ottawa, Mississauga and Toronto where their 750 employees live and work.
“Meeting the children and families that our event assists is a joy-filled yet humbling experience.” said Innovapost’s Erin Sarsfield, Race Director and member of the company’s Consulting Services practice. “Their faces light up with happiness talking about the impact of a Wish. I am pleased to be part of a company that supports Make-A-Wish.”
